SHE INSPIRES: Julie Thigpen

The next "She Inspires" feature for the month is the oh so talented interior designer Julie Thigpen, I like to call her "Jules." She is such an inspiration to me on a daily with her modern style and love for design.  She is the gal behind Bella Maison blog and also the owner of Modern Chic Home.

What one thing inspires you on a daily?
The reminder that God has blessed me with a gift and a passion that has allowed me work in the awesome field of interior design.

How did you start blogging and what keeps you focused?
I had no idea what a blog was until a friend of mine introduced me to hers, which was all about her obsession with fashion. This inspired me to start my own blog, where I could share my obsession / passion for interior design with anyone who was interested. Now here I am, almost 3 years and 700+ blog posts later, just as passionate about blogging as I was back then! What keeps me focused and motivated are my fabulous readers whose positive comments and emails inspire me everyday. Writing a blog has changed my life in so many ways!

What's your design style?
My design style is fresh, modern and unpretentious. I enjoy creating interiors that are both beautiful and livable.

What words of inspiration do you have for other aspiring business women?
Commit to your passion and stay focused on the main goal of your business, every single day. It’s easy to get overwhelmed in the beginning stages of starting a business, but stay consistent, stick with it and do not give up! Trust me, there will be moments when you’ll want to throw in the towel, but those are the times you need to persevere and keep moving forward. Surround yourself with positive people who encourage and motivate you. And if you haven’t already, start a blog! Blogging has been an incredible tool for me in both my business and personal life.

What three things do you have to have in your purse?
MAC Lip glass in Lust, Sea Island Cotton Lotion from Bath and Body Works, and my mini tape measure – as a designer, you never know when you might need to measure a space, piece of furniture, etc. for a project!

Note to Jules: Thanks for stopping by, I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for you in 2011! You are such a Delight!
