Art Inspired With Invaluable

Happy Monday!!

I recently had the chance to partner with Invaluable and get creative with one of their art pieces! Choosing one piece of art from their website, I was a little excited to jump right in and get started on this collaboration. Choosing just one piece of art from Invaluable, out of so many amazingly constructed pieces, was a challenge, there was one piece, that truly spoke to me and I just couldn’t stop staring at it. The After The Ball piece by Ferran Adria, represented a certain stillness and beauty, to me.

Designing a room around one unique piece of art can really make for a stylish, yet complimenting space.  I like to think of it as a way to bring the art to life and tell a deeper story in one beautifully designed space.

This design inspiration board is feminine, soft, and calming. I chose a soft muted pallet to really highlight the soft hues in the painting, a touch of mauve, cream, grays and gold, really added a touch of elegance in a very romantic way. I thought this room would be perfect for a young lady to step into after a long day of chaos and just getaway in her own environment.

Stump It Up

My love for wood stumps has grown even more. One of my talented artist friends Jessica Stone is truly putting her creativity to work with wood.  Recently she started making stumps, which can be used as a stool or an end table. I have one on order and I'm looking forward to adding it to my decor. You can see more of Jessica's artwork HERE.

Note from artist: I created this piece by eliminating bark, but left some on to have a lot of variation in texture and shade. Then, I sanded everything down. I added a greenish blue stain to part of the top and sanded that down. I stained and added bun feet. Then, I varnished everything. This can be a stool or table. Approximately 17 1/4 H x 12 1/4 w.

DIY: Wrapping Paper Art

A couple of weeks ago I decided to use what I had available for some art work to go in my son's room.  Looking through my basket of wrapping paper I decided to use red & white striped Christmas wrapping. What an easy DIY project, all I needed was scissors a ruler and and a frame. I love the way it turned out......

What one thing inspires you on a daily?
Nature's beauties and colors inspire me everyday!

How did you start your business and what keeps you focused?
I started painting on a regular basis as an escape from the daily grind and
stressful life experiences.  I became addicted to the peace of mind that it
brought me and I try to paint almost everyday, even though I don't really have
time for it with my full-time job of being a commercial photographer.

What words of inspiration do you have for other aspiring business
women?
If I'm able to be self-employed and make a living for who I truly am, then
anyone can!  Take advantage of free marketing resources, like craigslist and  facebook.
Craigslist is how I acquired all of my photography business in the beginning and met the wonderful and talented Nycia Emerson!

What is your design style?
I'm obsessed with modern, simple and clean lines right now.  Less is
more!

What three things do you have to have in your bag/purse?
Hand sanitizer, lotion and gum

Note to Jessica: Thanks for letting me feature you today on Be Inspired! You are such wonderful and talented women and I am so blessed to call you my friend! Looking forward to your Denver wedding in a couple of weeks!!
