Explore Austin:: Trip To The Boardwalk

One thing I love about the summer and having a flexible schedule as a mom, is being able to just explore on any given day with my boys. There is just something magical about seeing their faces  light up when it comes to just exploring nature and new things for the first time. As a mom there is nothing more fulfilling then knowing your kids are excited and full of Happy!

I figured since we are wrapping up the summer with school being in full swing again for both boys, it would be fitting to end this week with a few highlights from a trip to the Boardwalk a few weeks back.. It was a hot one that's for sure!!

Happy Weekend! I hope you have plans to explore and embrace every moment!

Can you tell it was HOT!

5 Austin Texas Hidden Gems

When Emma with Turo a peer-to-peer sharing rental car company contacted me to participate in the Hometown Hidden Gems series, I was excited about the chance to share some of my favorite little spots in the beautiful city of Austin, Texas.  Austin has grown so much in the last few years and has so many hidden gems all over the city.  One of my favorite things to do is to explore new local spots from time to time with my family and take in the Austin scenery along the way......  Austin definitely offers a variety of hidden gems and that's a big part of keeping it fun & weird. Here's just a few of my favorites below.
Cenote Coffee Shop:  I am a sucker for meeting my clients at cute coffee shops in the area and this cute little hidden spot that I came across last year off Caesar Chavez is just perfect. This little gem has lots of character, yummy coffee and delicious tacos.

Elizabeth Street Café:  If you are looking for the for the perfect spot for Pho close to downtown Austin, then look no futher.  This cute little cozy spot located in the center of all the fun, is seriously amazing.. The décor and lovely details make for the cutest food experience. I'm in love!
Big Top Candy Shop: Is one of my favorites to visit with my boys, we seriously enjoy taking a drive to the South Congress area when we have a sweet tooth, for some old fashion goodies.. This little gem is full of goodies, you can grab a bag of your favorite candies or a yummy shake! Trust me it doesn't disappoint.

Apothecary Wine Bar: One of my hot spots with my hubby for any given date night is the Apothecary wine bar, this romantic little spot is the perfect place to relax over a bottle of wine and a yummy cheese tray. They have a great selection of wines and such a lovely vibe. They also have brunch!!

Micklethwait Craft Meats: You can't visit Austin and not experience some good old BBQ.  This food trailer is one of our family faves and we actually crave it. It is tucked into a little spot off 11th street  and has big flavor   My favorite is the chicken and slaw, my husband enjoys the pork ribs, artisan sausage and jalapeno cheese grits.  Another is the yummy barbacoa  tacos, which are fairly new to the menu.  You will not be disappointed!

What one thing inspires you on a daily?
Ahhh, there are so many things. But I would have to say, it's the tedious task of making the bed with my husband in the morning. It has become a daily ritual and sort of a bonding moment. I always moan and groan about this and sarcastically lets him now that I tuck in my side better than his side but really and truly, it does start my day right!

How did you start your business and blog?
With planning and a leap of faith. It's been ten years ago since I started to yearn to do something creative. I then set the wheels into motion & tried to be as financially stable as I can at that time. A little more than two years ago, I finally took the leap. It's still not where I want to be business-wise but I know I am where I want and need to be.

What's your Design Style?
Urban Cottage - Modern Vintage. I'm a sucker for intricate romantic pieces to rustic French Country to modern bold hues with a touch of Rococo. I'm not a minimalist at all although I definitely appreciate it.

What words of inspiration do you have for other aspiring business women?
Make every step of your journey meaningful and blissful. I used to be disappointed when my goals are not achieved the way I envisioned them or it seems to take forever. You'll make mistakes and make backward steps at times but you are learning along the way, building new relationships and knowing more about yourself so savor the moments. Just taking that leap and going for what you want and being true to yourself is success in itself.

What three things do you have to have in your bag/purse?
Frost mints in wintergreen, my Lodis cardholder with my business cards of course, Philosophy Spring eternal mist for my always thirsty skin.

What's one thing you can't live without?
LOVE --- is all you need according to the Beatles song :) That and my morning cafe au lait.

Wedding Wednesday: Caitlin & Brad Wedding

On December 17th I was honored to be a part of such a special day, this day was truly one that was full of joy and happiness.  The family had been waiting for this moment for some time, and as my beautiful niece Caitlin strolled down the aisle at Texas Old Town venue in Kyle; excitement overflowed.

Caitlin and Brad are such a loving couple and not to mention they are both very intelligent. Congratulations again C & B! Love you both, thanks for letting me be a part of your planning!
