Holiday Table Event

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend...

I thought I would start the week off with a few details from a Holiday table event that I was honored to be asked to be a part of  at Collectic Home.  I was truly inspired by all the fabulous pieces in the store for my demonstrations. Thanks to one my fabulous friends for stopping by to capture a few detailed shots of the tables..

The first table was a cheery red table with lots of shimmer. Adding a piece of scrap fabric to any table as a table runner during the holidays is always a great starting point for layering on the details. I used a sequin red fabric that I had in my cabinet, tall cylinder vases with red and silver glass ornaments, along with a few red roses and candles throughout.

This table was a mesh of natural elements and ornaments. I used a gold and black wrapping paper as a runner for the table and paired it with greens and golds

Thanksgiving DIY: Fresh Herb & Flower/ Box Centerpiece

There is nothing like having fresh flowers and herbs in your Thanksgiving tablescape, but flowers can break the budget depending on what you are looking for.

For last weeks News segment we went with fresh herbs(rosemary & basil), garden flowers, and gourds for the Thanksgiving centerpiece.  The good thing about this arrangement is you can use a basket from your pantry or even a shoe box covered in kraft paper and you can always replant afterwards.  Such an easy way to have a stylish, but budget friendly centerpiece for your Thanksgiving gathering.

How to:
-Line box or basket with plastic or newspaper
-Place old books in the bottom to add height
-Place garden plants or flowers inside, placing them where you want them(we used mums, basil and rosemary  from local grocer each under $4.00)
-Fill in with  pumpkins, squash, or even apples to add color and texture

Thanksgiving DIY: Paint Swatch Leaf Place Cards

Are you still trying to figure out ways to get creative with your Thanksgiving tablescape on a budget?  For a recent Thanksgiving table that we created for a local news segment I decided to use paint swatches for place cards. Paint swatches is an easy way to bring in color. I cut leaf patterns from paint swatches and glued them to small bamboo sticks and placed them in the mini pies.

Paint Swatch Leaf Place Card:
Grab paint swatches from  your local hardware store
Trace a leaf pattern with color desired, then cut
Glue one edge of the leaf to a stick or hole punch and add ribbon
Makes for a unique and colorful place card

Dreaming In Black & White

As I started gathering my thoughts for my 10 year wedding anniversary celebration for next year. I seem to be having thoughts of black & white. It's just something about the classic black and white that makes me want to party!
