With the Holidays at a close and school starting back this week,  it's time to get back on track with eating healthier and prepping healthier snacks for my boys.  Cuties citrus always helps bring the sunshine to our home, especially on weeks that call for adjusting and getting back to our normal routine.

These California grown goodies allow me to be creative with snacks on the go for my boys, and they love them!

She Health:: 5 Fall Nutrition Tips

As we head into the holiday season, many Austinites look forward to a reprieve from the oppressive Texas heat. As the cooler weather settles, the air is drier and the holiday season starts. This is Blessing here with 5 Nutrition Tips to help you keep your skin healthy during the fall and winter seasons.

Stay hydrated.
During the fall and winter months may women battle dry, itchy, inflamed skin. The change in weather leads to drier air that pulls moisture from the skin ad it is important to stay hydrated. Make sure you drink plenty of water to keep your cells and your kin moisturized.

Protect your skin.

Keep your skin moisturized by drinking enough water, and using a good moisturizer with sun protection (skip products with avobenzene, oxybenzene and parabens). Another way to protect your skin is to make sure you are getting enough essential fatty acids; especially omega-3 fatty acids which you can get from salmon, tuna and halibut or if you don’t like fish a quality fish oil supplement like Nordic Naturals is good for controlling inflammation caused by dry, cracked skin due to cold temperature and dry air.

Eat your antioxidants.
Antioxidant rich foods help fight free radical damage and slow the aging process. Eating these colorful foods will provide your body with the nutrients it needs and the antioxidants slow the aging process in skin cells. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that is needed to maintain the structure of collagen and soft tissues.

Beta carotene and lycopene are antioxidants that act as natural skin protectants.

Eat more fiber.

This is the season for hearty soups and stews that stick to your ribs. There is no better time to sneak more fiber into your diet by adding legumes, beans, whole grains like quinoa and lentils into your soups. Fiber helps keep you regular and it also helps to balance your blood sugar levels. The holidays are coming and in with that come mindless eating especially at holiday parties the best way to beat mindless eating is to eat a fiber rich snack before heading out to the party to help curb your appetite.

Watch Your Sugar Intake
We all know that eating too much sugar is not good for our health and it can put us at risk for developing chronic diseases like: metabolic syndrome, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Did you know that sugar increases inflammation in the body? Inflammation affects every part of the body and this includes the skin. The best way to protect your skin and keep it healthy is to avoid eating too much sugar.

The fall and winter seasons are known for food, family and the holidays. During this time many people let their diets and exercise routines fall to the side and end up regretting it come January.
The best way to stay healthy and have healthy skin is to stick to your long term lifestyle goals while enjoying the festivities of the holiday season. It is important during this busy time of the year to manage your stress, reach out to your support system when you feel overwhelmed, to continue exercising, get enough sleep, staying hydrated and eating an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant rich diet.

Explore Austin:: Trip To The Boardwalk

One thing I love about the summer and having a flexible schedule as a mom, is being able to just explore on any given day with my boys. There is just something magical about seeing their faces  light up when it comes to just exploring nature and new things for the first time. As a mom there is nothing more fulfilling then knowing your kids are excited and full of Happy!

I figured since we are wrapping up the summer with school being in full swing again for both boys, it would be fitting to end this week with a few highlights from a trip to the Boardwalk a few weeks back.. It was a hot one that's for sure!!

Happy Weekend! I hope you have plans to explore and embrace every moment!

Can you tell it was HOT!

Anniversary Vineyard Weekend Faves

In celebrating our twelve year Anniversay over the weekend the hubby and I decided to take a wine tour. There is nothing like going on little adventure with  and spending time in the Texas Hill Country for a day of wine tasting is always one of our favorites. Every year we plan a road trip to a few vineyards for tastings, and this go around we happened upon, Driftwood, Wimberley and Dripping Springs tours. Our first stop was Trattoria Lisina Restaurant & Duchman Winery and from there we ventured to Wimberley Valley Vineyard, Driftwood Vineyards, Solaro Estate, and  Bell Springs.... What an adventure it was, here's a few of my favorite snapshots!

                                                                      What a wonderful weekend!!!!

Travel:: Family At Disney World

I hope you had a fabulous weekend!  I planned to share a part of our Disney trip with you last week, but didn't get to it. I figured I would start the week off with a few of our favorite photos from Magic Kingdom.

Our day started at around 9:00am and didn't end until after 11:00pm. It was definitely a magical experience, from the time we walked into the park to the time we left it's truly a dream come true. All the shows, parades, rides and so many Disney characters throughout our adventure. Being that this was our first trip to Disney World, theirs a few things we would do different the next go around.  I seriously can't wait to take my boys back again and celebrate the dream all over again!! The memories at  Disney World were simply MAGICAL!

My youngest couldn't take the fire works!! To loud!
