6 Apps to Help Anyone Look and Feel Better in 2015

Hello Ladies!! Welcome Tina back with her first guest post of the New Year!!

It’s a new year and everyone is looking to make this year better than the last. The New Year is the perfect time for anyone to set new goals and dream big for the future. But of course, setting and achieving new goals is never easy, and there are often a lot of distractions that can keep a person away from their highest potential. Luckily, there are a lot of great new technologies out there that can help anyone meet the goals that they are setting for 2015.

Everyone already has their mobile phone in their hands 24/7 already, so they might as well use it to achieve some of their New Year’s Resolutions. There are a lot of great apps that can help people meet whatever goals they have set for the New Year. These apps can be simple for anyone to use and will make achieving New Year’s goals so much easier. Here are six apps that can help anyone look and feel better in 2015.

The Rise nutrition app
One common New Year’s Resolution is to eat better, which is often too broad, but it is a great goal in general to have. The Rise app allows people to get advice from a registered dietician who can educate them on proper meal choices and how to eat to meet specific goals like weight loss. This is a great app to use with kids as well to establish healthy eating habits.

The ThirdLove bra sizing app
Every woman looks and feels better when her clothes fit her like a glove. The most important factor in clothing fit for women is a great fitting bra. Any woman can get this now without having to go through an embarrassing fitting at a boutique. The ThirdLove bra sizing app helps women find their perfect size to ensure the best fit every time.

The Nike+ fitness app
Another common goal in the New Year is to lose weight and get into shape. The Nike+ app helps people create and meet fitness goals. The app can track a person’s runs and progress in their workouts to make every sweat session more productive and fun.

The MyQuit Coach app
A very important health goal that many people try to accomplish every year is quitting smoking. Smoking is extremely damaging to a person’s health, and everyone should be working towards quitting smoking themselves and helping the people in their lives quit too. The MyQuit Coach app can give people the tools, resources, and extra encouragement that they need to stop smoking for good this year.

The My Fitness Pal calorie tracker app
Losing weight can help a person not only look better, but also feel better in a lot of different ways. Being one of the most common goals people set this time of year, there are a lot of great resources out there to help people lose the weight they need to be healthy. My Fitness Pal is one of the easiest calorie counting apps out there.

The Sleep Cycle app
A good night’s sleep is the base of overall health and wellbeing. Most people do not get enough sleep each night. The Sleep Cycle app can help people track their sleep and find methods to help them get more restful sleep each night.

Putting Together a Last Minute Formal Look

You are flooded with excitement when you finally get the invitation to that super hip party you have been dying to go to for years, or the wedding invitation from an old friend who will be having really good-looking groomsmen for you to meet. However, that excitement is quickly replaced with panic when you realize that they event is only a short time away, and you have nothing to wear.
It is always a good idea to keep a fall back outfit in your closet for such occasions, but because of restrictions like space or changes in size and style, this might not always be an option for every woman. Instead, you might feel the need to scramble through your closet or rush to the nearest department store to find the perfect outfit as quickly as possible.
No need to panic just yet, there are a few tricks you can use to calmly arrange the perfect outfit, either just with you already have in your closet or with a few quick add-ons. You will be able to walk into your event with confidence, knowing that you look your best. Here are some tips for putting together a last minute formal look.
Go with something timeless
If you are in a time crunch, going for a timeless look is the easiest and best way to make sure that you will look great for your formal event. There is a reason why everyone says a woman needs a little black dress in her closet, for times like these! Pull out a basic look out of your closet that you feel confident in and avoid reaching for that new, trendy outfit that you don’t feel like yourself in.
Focus on fit before trend
Fit is the most important aspect of any outfit. You want something to fit your perfectly in order to flatter your figure, make you feel confident and beautiful, and impress everyone else at the event. Instead of rushing out to a tailor, you can use a few simple tricks to make any outfit fit better. Find great fitting bras and shapewear, add a belt or use layering pieces to get your best look.
Dress it up with accessories
Accessories can take any outfit from boring to fabulous in seconds. Dig through what you already have to glam up your current outfit. When you are going to a formal event, the more sparkle the better, so don’t be afraid to pile it on. Wear more than one necklace or bracelet and find a great pair of chandelier earrings if you are planning on wearing your hair up.
Get trendy with makeup and hair
Because you are going with a more timeless outfit, you can make your look current and trendy easily with makeup and hair. Search celebrity photos online for new makeup and hair inspiration that you can easily do yourself, or if you have a little extra money, enlist the help of a stylist and makeup artist to give you a perfected event night look.

Another Awesome Apple Idea

Welcome Vivian, bride to be & great friend!!

Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! I took a very productive (and much too short) trip to Dallas to do some wedding planning. I decided that I might not go with the red apple centerpieces after all. BUT, I did find this very creative idea that might just change my mind again. How elegant and easy does this look?

Found on With This Ring, a new wedding blog I've been following. Some really great ideas there. Check it out!

A Thousand Paper Cranes

Happy Monday!! Welcome Vivian (bride to be)

from roundhousedesigns on etsy

My sister has offered to fold me 1000 origami cranes for my wedding. It's something she's always wanted to do, so I decided to take her up on it. I think the effect of the brightly-colored cranes made from pretty paper would look very elegant, but I've been having a hard time deciding what to do with them. Scatter them on the tables? Hang them from a tree? Create a cascading curtain?

I was browsing Etsy for ideas, and I found these lovely creations by roundhousedesigns. I found this mobile pictured above especially beautiful. This inspired me to create something similar, only on a much larger scale, and on a stand I won't have to hang on the ceiling. I am thinking of using them as the main focal point for the ceremony. Thanks to roundhousedesigns for providing such wonderful inspiration! Check out her Etsy store for her wonderful designs.

Planning a White & Red Wedding

Hi everyone! This is Vivian, Nycia's former wedding assistant. I am so excited to be guest-blogging on Nycia's lovely blog! After assisting Nycia at weddings, I could not wait to plan all the little details of my own wedding, which will be held in in Dallas in early September.

Choosing the wedding colors was one of the first things I did when I started planning. I used ColorBlender to help me decide which color combination I liked best. (ColorBlender is also great for deciding on color combos for interior decorating.) After contemplating blues, greens, pinks, reds, and neutrals, I have finally settled on white with touches of reds. Red is the color of love, and it's also a traditional wedding color in both Chinese and Indian cultures. Plus, I think a white backdrop will give the modern, minimalist feel I am going for. It also doesn't hurt that most venues come with white linens, so I don't have to incur the extra cost of renting additional linens.

Rather than using a lot of flowers, I am thinking of decorating with red delicious apples, cranberries, and maybe pomegranates. Here is a mock centerpiece I was trying out with a rose Navreet had given me for Valentine's Day. These were the only apples I had on hand, but I will get redder ones for the actual centerpieces.
